about Julie

Julie graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in musical theatre and subsequently worked for ten years as a professional actress in Miami, Dallas and New York City. Julie has performed in theatres and concert halls including Carnegie Hall (New York City), The Juilliard School (NYC), The Metropolitan Room (NYC), The Oak Room (NYC), New York State Theatre Institute, The Forge (London), Shakespeare Festival of Dallas (Texas) and Lyric Stage (Texas).

In London, Julie has worked as a singing teacher for seven years, most notably at Arts Educational Schools, working with students who have appeared in the West End as well as on the BBC and Netflix. Julie is also a certified teacher of The Alexander Technique, and uses a holistic approach to teaching singing, especially focusing on a healthy, natural sound.

In 2017, Julie founded the London Songwriters Collective, borrowing a format directly from Nashville called a “songwriters' round." This evening of live music proved to be incredibly popular, both with the invited artists and the audience. The events led to songwriters collaborating on one anothers’ albums, co-writing and touring together. London Songwriters Collective had the specific aim of supporting independent, unsigned singer/songwriters, many of whom have gone on to sign with major record labels.

Later in 2017, Julie was commissioned to compose a song for Laganja Estranja (RuPaul’s Drag Race). Julie wrote and performed her original piece Mighty Mississippi, inspired by Laganja’s non-binary performance earlier that year in London. The Dance for Camera project used dancers of all body types and abilities and was filmed in a unique one shot format at a warehouse in Hackney.

Julie also works as a voiceover actress, voicing characters for cartoons, video games and film, including Rocketman, The Division II, Unforeseen Incidents, The Settlers and Snow Queen, an ongoing children's cartoon series.

As a singer/songwriter, Julie has performed in venues and studios across London. Her Flash of Light EP is available on all streaming services and she has music published by BMG Production Music for placement in TV, film and advertising. Julie's lyrics have been featured in American Songwriter magazine.

Starting in October of 2022, Julie will be pursuing a Master's Degree in Voice Studies at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama.
